Seville Cathedral, Giralda and Alcazar | Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour

About this experience

Seville has changed hands by force again and again, and has never once been cleared and started again. The cathedral's bell tower is an Almohad minaret wearing a Renaissance belfry. The bronze doors of the Puerta del Perdon have carried Arabic scripture since 1248 and nobody took them down. But the Seville of postcards, the whitewashed lanes and the open squares with a medieval wall on show, was built in the twentieth century for visitors. The iron cross in Plaza de Santa Cruz came from a museum in 1918. Ten stops: the Archivo de Indias, Plaza del Triunfo, the free courtyard of the Patio de Banderas, the Callejon del Agua where a city wall was promoted to an aqueduct, Plaza de Santa Cruz, the Hospital de los Venerables, the Giralda from Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, and the Puerta del Perdon. Every stop is a public street or square, so there is nothing to book and no queue. 10 stops, 1.6 km, about 90 minutes at your own pace, narrated in English and Spanish with a live GPS map.
